Adelaide Outlaws 22nd Birthday Celebration – on the 22nd!!
On Saturday September 22nd, we’ll be celebrating our 22nd Birthday. We invite square dancers everywhere to come and join us for our party.
This year we’re holding it at the William Light School Hall, Errington St, Plympton. It’ll be a Country & Western theme so there’s plenty of scope to dress for the occasion. We’re pleased to feature one of Australia’s more popular callers, Nev McLachlan from Buderim in Queensland. Nev does a great job and you will enjoy his calling.
Our sessions this year will be:
Plus: 6:00 – 7:20pm
Rounds: 7:30 – 8:00pm
Square Dancing (MS with some Plus): 8:00 – late.
When you come, bring a basket supper and an enthusiasm for a great night’s entertainment. We look forward to seeing you there.
Can you square dance after feeding on a feast of pancakes??
On Monday August 13th we will be holding our PANCAKE NIGHT. The Pancake King will set up his throne and Royal servery in out hall and endeavour to keep up with the insatiable appetites of square dancers.
Come along and join in the festivities and the feasting. Pancakes will be served continuously during the dance and a range of toppings will be available. All we ask is that you book with us beforehand so we may know how many gallons of mix his Highness will need. A booking involves payment please. $6 members, &8 non-members and this cost includes pancakes and the dance. Enjoy!!
American Night – Mon July 2nd
Come and dance in a theme of USA! Our hall will be decorated in the red, white and blue and a supper including donuts, mini hot dogs and apple pie will be demolished. Please bring a basket supper to help us out.
Our night’s square dance program will be a musical journey around the cities and states of America. New York New York, Georgia, Mississippi to Seattle. Wear red, white and blue colours and y’all enjoy yourselves!
National Convention in Adelaide
For five days in June 2007, over 800 dancers from all over Australia and overseas converged on Adelaide for our annual National Square Dance Convention held at the Distinctive Homes Dome (formerly Clipsal Powerhouse) at Findon.
The Adelaide Outlaws club was well represented with one full set and a combined set in the dressed sets parade on the Saturday evening and many of our dancers attending the weekend’s sessions. There was also a novelty for us in that one of the venues for the Convention was our regular club hall – the Macedonian Hall at Findon. We felt right at home!
Some of the highlights for us were:
- Dawn’s speech for the official opening – you could have heard a pin drop!
- The police band at the openingÂ
- The large contingent of Japanes dancers and callers
- The visitors from NZ, USA and Germany
- The costuming on the Monday night “Hades” theme
Congratulations to convenor David Armstrong and his committee for the culmination of years of planning and the final staging of the event. We look forward to the next National Convention in Brisbane in 2008.
