Annual General Meeting - Mon November 10th

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Scones anyone??So the thought of an AGM seems so dry, so business like eh? Well come to ours and see that it is really quite fun and oh so short! In fact to stop people talking too much we provide scones, jam and cream!

We always welcome people to join our committee and help us organise our functions. It’s a lot of fun and we don’t meet that often. Like to give something back to square dancing? Join our committee and add an extra dimension to your square dance experience. You’ll find it quite rewarding.

The AGM will be held during the supper break around 9:30pm so interruption to dancing time is minimal.

Around The World

What a great night it was as we celebrated our 23rd Birthday!

Thanks to so many who contributed - the committee and helpers for decorating the hall (a big job in that hall), all the dancers who dressed up to the theme - you looked great - and to Steve Turner, our feature caller. Steve did a great job and showed why he is well respected as a great caller. Thanks also to Les Tulloch for the cueing.

Here’s some photos taken on the night. (Click on photo to enlarge)

Another great evening’s feast of Pancakes served by the Pancake King during the Monday night dance.

Feeding of over 100 hungry square dancers is no easy task but the Pancake King and his assistant did a great job. As you can see from the pictures, pancakes were flying and being consumed at a great rate. Thanks to all who came along and supported this - very tasty fare!

American Night - Mon July 7th

Friday, June 20th, 2008

A great night with many dressed in red, white and blue which really added to the atmosphere. The hall looked good with US flags and rosettes and the supper - what a feast. Mini hot dogs, donuts and apple pies supplemented with some creative fare brought by oour dancers.Liberty

We hope you enjoyed our musical tour through the states of America. It’s interesting to see how many songs relate to one state or another! New York, Mississippi, Hollywood, Rocky Mountains and more.

Thanks to our decorating crew and to everyone who came and made it a night with atmosphere.

What a fantastic night it was! A great crowd of club members, new graduates and some visitors (family, friends). Congratulations to our graduates who received their certificates and a “welcome” pack from the Square Dance Society. Further presentations were made in subsequent weeks too as a few had been away and were catching up and a few off sick on the graduation night.

A big thanks to all who supported this program - the experienced dancers who came early to dance as “angels”, the committee who set up, Jan Stephens representing the Society and to everyone for making this night a memorable one. The supper spread was exquisite and the well made pizzas didn’t go un-noticed!

We welcome our new group at the Mainstream club on Monday nights and hopefully starting to venture out to other clubs & functions as confidence builds.

A full-on night this one!! We’ll be serving spuds from 7pm. Please book if you’d like to join us for a spud tea.

We need your talent!! If you’d like to sing, read poetry, do a dance, perform magic, call a square dance or anything you’d like to share - please let us know. This is a chance to be part of the program and it is not being judged - it’s just for fun. Let Graham know as soon as possible so we can program the evening.

We have also just heard that a Japanese caller will be joining us on this night (and on the Wed Plus). You may recall Duke Okada who visited us about 18 months ago. He and his wife are coming over to Adelaide for a visit and we look forward to meeting them again and having him call.

So, spuds, various talents and a guest caller will make this a night not to be missed. We look forward to seeing you there.
