The smell of BBQ’d sausages filled the air as we celebrated our National Day with a BBQ tea and dance to follow. Thanks to the Largs Bay Rotary for so efficiently cooking all the sausages, shasliks and onions.
With so many in Aussie colours dancing to Australian music – looked great!

As with many Aussies, we celebrated our National Day with a bar-b-que dinner with the added bonus of good night’s dancing to follow. Thanks to you all for coming and making it a great night. The BBQ cooked beautifully again by the Flagstaff Venturers and the hall looked great. Even had Aussie summer weather – hot outside but cool in so many ways inside!

And so the year is off to a flying start as we celebrate Australia Day on the public holiday Monday. As is our custom, we asked the local youth group, the Flagstaff Venturers, to supply and cook a BBQ tea for us. It helps us and they raise funds for their group as well.
Really nice to a see great crowd complete with Aussie colours of green and gold or flag colours.
The pavs for supper were just the icing on the cake (sorry!) and through the night we danced using some Australian music and songs.
Thanks to all who joined in and to our committee and helpers who helped us transform the hall.
Great to integrate our learners in the night with alternating brackets too – we all had a ball!

Straight back to dancing after our Xmas-New Year break and our second night was our annual Aussie Night. A celebration of all things Australian marking the Australia Day public holidayon th e26th.

It began with a delicious barbecue cooked for us by the Flagstaff Venturers who managed to cook and dish out meals for our ravenous crowd. Great job as always and it is a fund raiser for them as well. Great reports on the meal itself.

Dancing followed and the hall was decorated with Aussie animals and pictures. Australian music featured in the dances and as background and most people found something Australian to wear – be it green and gold, flag colours or Aussie themed clothes. Thanks everyone who came – it was a great night. Thanks also to our helpers who set up and cleaned up afterwards.

On the second night back for 2011 we celebrated Australia Day with our traditional BBQ and dance. Our thanks to the Flagstaff Venturers who supplied the meats and cooked the BBQ for us – great job as always.

The crowd looked great in Green and Gold and an assortment of other Australian colours or costumes. A few Aussie songs were thrown in the mix and Graham, dusting off the didgeridoo, rendered his version of Way Out West complete with a didge lesson for us all.

We were thrilled to welcome Lara-Mareike Jung from Germany who is travelling the world and had some time to drop in and say Guten Tag – G’day!

Thanks to all who came along and entered the spirit and to the helpers who set up the hall and cleared away.

Well it was certainly an Aussie summer night as we gathered around for our BBQ and dance.  A 37 degC day but fortunately our hall airconditioning works well.

It was a great crowd and all heartily got stuck into their tucker at their tables. A big thanks to the Flagstaff Venturers who again cooked for us and used this as a fundraiser.

The hall looked great and thanks to the committee who tethered up all the Aussie animals and hung our flags. Nice to see the green and gold colour schemes and Aussie theme in your outfits too.
