Using Valentine’s as a theme we again host our annual Charity dance. All proceeds from door admission, raffle and sale of pre-loved clothing going to a charity voted by the members. This year it will be to the aid organisations that supported the Pinery fires response and support.
Thanks to everyone for your donations and a special thanks to Nigel and Sheila who looked after the clothing store.

February sees our annual Valentine’s Charity Dance and Pre-loved clothing sale. A big night and this year our chosen charity was the Parkinson’s Association of South Australia. This was in tribute to one of most long standing members and club president for many years, Ron New who we lost recently.
It was a colourful night as we all dressed in red and whites and danced to love songs. At the back of the hall we held our pre-loved square dance clothing sale, all adding to the fundraising for our cause. Thanks to all who came and supported the function and the charity.

As February comes around we hold our annual Valentine’s Charity Dance. The scene is set with hearts and cupids decorations, the mood is set by dancing to love songs and the dancers are set in their reds and pinks to complement the theme.
As is custom we also operate a pre-loved square dance clothing sale during the night and this proved quite timely for our current group of dancers learning with us.
All proceeds from the night go to a charity we vote upon and this year it was the Royal Flying Doctor Service – a valuable asset to our rural communities.
Thanks to our helpers who set up the hall, to Nigel and Sheila who operated the the clothing stalls and to Alistair who provided his coffee machine as a welcome distraction.

This year our voted charity was the Guide Dogs For the Blind. Our door takings, raffle and proceeds form the clothing sale all bundled up and will be presented to this charity in the next few weeks.

A great turn up for thsi event and lovely to see everyone dressed in the Valentines Reds. This clothing sale seems to be growing and if it keeps up we’ll have to open a shop!

Thanks to all who supported this evening and we hope you enjoyed dancing to love songs and gorging on one of our largest suppers yet. All boosted by two hefty cakes supplied by our Birthday Boys Bill and David. Big thanks to Sheila and Nigel Shaw for looking after the clothing sale during the evening – great job!

Our annual Valentine’s Charity night was a lot of fun and succeeded in raising over $1,000 for the flood appeals. Door entry, raffles, sale of pre-loved clothing and donations all helped the cause.

Great to see so many red, white and pink outfits and we danced to love songs to mark the occasion. Thanks to a great bunch of helpers who helped us set the hall and particularly the clothing sale room – looked like a sale at Myers!

As is our custom, our Valentine night was also a fund raiser. This year the vote was for the Beyond Blue initiative – an organisation that assists people with depression. The door takings, raffle and sale of pre-loved square dance clothing raised just over $1,000 for this organisation. The hall looked beautiful with the hearts and cupids. Thanks to all who joined us and dressed to match in the red, whites and pinks. It was a great atmosphere and of course set to music with the “love” theme – romantic and raunchy!

We had the pleasure of welcoming square dancers from Leipzig in Germany – Dietmar, Birgit and their daughter Silvia. Whilst mum and dad spoke only broken English, Silvia acted as interpreter and was amazed by this wonderful thing called square dancing. A wonderful family – so friendly and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We love the fact that this is an international dance form!

Our annual charity dance raised over $1,000 for the chosen charity – the Victorian Bushfire Appeal. Thanks to all who donated either through door admission, raffle and/or purchase of pre-loved square dance clothing.

It was great to see such a large attendance and beautifully decked out in red and whites. The red-themed supper was a treat too – thanks to those who went to some effort to bring something along.
