2011 September 24th – 26th Birthday

Here’s a quick video snippet:

We celebrated our 26th Birthday with a Black and White Ball and what a night it was! Nearly everyone frocked up – men with dinner suits that seemed to be working a little hard to close up and girls with their best evening gowns. Great to have visitors from the Acey Squares in Naracoorte and Ray Sedgeman from Victoria and big thanks to Les Tulloch, Milton Mackenzie and Jeff Seidel for joing in on the program. Also a thanks to Thelma McCue and Les for the Rounds. The supper was nothing short of sensational and I nearly got killed in the crush!

The stage looked dazzling with our silhouettes and dancing lights and a big thanks to the crew who helped us set up and pack away.

2011 September 5th – Fathers’ Day Dance

We celebrated Fathers’ Day with complementary ports and soft drinks and what seemed a ton of bread, cheeses and metwurst! The boys were granted free admission (fathers or not!) and the supper was supplemented with hot pies. A great turn up and a fun evening of dancing and the overwhelming aroma of garlic and laughter!

2011 August 15th – Pancake Night

On a cold winter’s night what better way to keep warm than with hot pancakes and some fun dancing! Again this year we enlisted the services of “The Pancake King” and Scott and Kaye set up shop in the hall and cooked non-stop until around 9:30pm.  Gratefully hungry dancers enjoyed a selection of savoury and sweet pancakes dished out with pizazz by the King.

Plenty of seating at the Round tables for all and some lively dancing topped it off. During the evening we took the chance to award Bill and Maureen their 10 year membership stars as they had missed our Birthday.

With a feast of Pancakes and Gerry’s flamboyant birthday cake – we just had to keep dancing. Hope you all enjoyed it!

2011 July 4th – American Night

So this year it falls appropriately on July 4th and we celebrated with a red white and blue theme, hall decorations and hot dogs and donuts supplied for supper. We also danced our way around the states of America with songs from those areas or with state names iin them. Great crowd, great fun!

2011 April 18th – Easter Dance

At our Eastter dance we invited dancers to perform for us. We had a great response, some called, some sang, some read to us. Here’s some snapshots of their performances:

We thank Ashley-Rose and Noel, Ian, Barry, Rosemarie, Kevin and Hilda for their contributions during the evening – great job!

As well as the performances, there were lashings of hot cross buns and chocolates for the Easter supper. All in all, a great crowd and a great atmosphere.

2011 March 21st – St Patrick’s Spud Feast

Our annual spud feast went over well as the spud van catered for the hungry hoardes of dancers decked in out green. Great crowd, great food and a fun night was had by all.

We also took the opportunity to wish Kerry and Neil all the best for their wedding in April.

2011 February 14th – Valentine’s Charity Night

Our annual Valentine’s Charity night was a lot of fun and succeeded in raising over $1,000 for the flood appeals. Door entry, raffles, sale of pre-loved clothing and donations all helped the cause.

Great to see so many red, white and pink outfits and we danced to love songs to mark the occasion. Thanks to a great bunch of helpers who helped us set the hall and particularly the clothing sale room – looked like a sale at Myers!

2011 January 24th – Aussie Night

On the second night back for 2011 we celebrated Australia Day with our traditional BBQ and dance. Our thanks to the Flagstaff Venturers who supplied the meats and cooked the BBQ for us – great job as always.

The crowd looked great in Green and Gold and an assortment of other Australian colours or costumes. A few Aussie songs were thrown in the mix and Graham, dusting off the didgeridoo, rendered his version of Way Out West complete with a didge lesson for us all.

We were thrilled to welcome Lara-Mareike Jung from Germany who is travelling the world and had some time to drop in and say Guten Tag – G’day!

Thanks to all who came along and entered the spirit and to the helpers who set up the hall and cleared away.

2010 Dec 20th – Christmas Dinner Dance

So this is Christmas – look what we’ve done! What a great way to finish off our 25th year. A hall full of happy dancers and a great atmosphere! We celebrated our Xmas with a Roast Dinner catered by Ikonic Kitchen of Torrensville. Amazingly everyone was well fed ready for the dancing to begin. A big thanks to our committee and helpers who came Sunday night prior to set up and helped pack away at the end of a busy night. Thanks to Thelma for cueing some rounds for us and to Santa’s “helper” Chris Carter for making a Santa Sumo suit look so appealing!

Amongst many December birthday’s celebrated, the club presented Dawn with a her “pressie” for her big day and Graham was given his Xmas present despite still being on Santa’s naughty list (well nearly). Our new graduates are now part of our Mainstream club and it was great to see them joining in the full night for the first time.

We wish all our square dance friends everywhere a very Merry Xmas and Happy New Year and look forward to hitting the floorboards with you in 2011.

Special thanks to our club members who support us so well and made our 25 years such an enriching experience. We look forward to many more!

A new group of dancers were welcomed into the  world of Mainstream dancing on Dec 13th 2010. Congratulations to our new graduates – well done. Thanks to the great support of our regular dancers who came along to help celebrate the occasion too. Just in time for Christmas.  (Absent from the photo is Marie who couldn’t make it that night.)
