Ah – c’est magnifique!
What a wonderful 29th Birthday celebration we had with our theme – Une Affaire Francais. Everyone dressed the part in some way and what a colourful collection of Berets. Strains of Edith Piaf and accordion music welcomed guests and we filled the hall with happy dancers. Thanks to Jeff Seidel, Les Tulloch, John Casey and Ian Rutter for joining in with the calling and to Thelma McCue for the themed Rounds.
Food – wow – plenty of croissants, crepes, French Onion Soup, eclairs, chocolat, cheeses etc to provide a welcome break in the night.
Big thanks too to all those who helped out making food, decorations and setting up, pulling down.
A memorable evening and we launch now into our 30th year. What a rush!

2014 – Gen Y Dance Sessions

(Click on picture to enlarge then click on picture again)
On the first Monday of every month we hold a dance for “Gen Y” – younger people who just want to try square dancing and dance with their friends or make new ones.
We run from 6:30pm to 8pm and no experience is needed for any of these sessions. We vary the choreo and yet welcome newcomers any time.
The atmosphere is great and man, these guys and girls can move! Learning and dancing fast to some great music, there’s a lot of energy expended.
They usually finish off by nipping out for dinner somewhere close and having a good laugh about it all.
We’re still running these so watch out for notifications on Facebook. First Monday of each month – 6:30pm – 8pm. Spread the word.

2014 July 7th – American Night

As July 4th rolled around we decked out the hall in red, white and blue and everyone dressed accordingly. We danced musically through the states of the US and enjoyed a feast of mini hot dogs, apple pies, donuts and other goodies. Thanks to all for your support – a great night out.

2014 April 21st – Easter Dance and Adelaide Idol

To celebrate Easter, we invited our members to present some entertainment during the evening. Big thanks to Peter Cram (singing with guitar), Rosemarie (calling with Peter) and Ian (singing). Here’s some pics of the happy performers and our Easter Dance.

2014 February 17th – Valentine’s Charity Night

(Click on thumbnails to enlarge, then click again on the image)
February sees our annual Valentine’s Charity Dance and Pre-loved clothing sale. A big night and this year our chosen charity was the Parkinson’s Association of South Australia. This was in tribute to one of most long standing members and club president for many years, Ron New who we lost recently.
It was a colourful night as we all dressed in red and whites and danced to love songs. At the back of the hall we held our pre-loved square dance clothing sale, all adding to the fundraising for our cause. Thanks to all who came and supported the function and the charity.

2014 January 27th – Aussie Night BBQ

As with many Aussies, we celebrated our National Day with a bar-b-que dinner with the added bonus of good night’s dancing to follow. Thanks to you all for coming and making it a great night. The BBQ cooked beautifully again by the Flagstaff Venturers and the hall looked great. Even had Aussie summer weather – hot outside but cool in so many ways inside!

Congratulations to our new graduates! It’s been a lot of fum and a lot of learning to master this mainstream program but we made it. A nice crowd was there to help welcome our new grads and it was a really lovely atmosphere. Thanks to Heather Wheeler (Society president) and Jan Stephens (vice president) for the welcoming words and “packs” presented. We welcomed a couple of interstate visitors, Con and Alma, from Mackay in Qld too. Special thanks to Les Tulloch who came along on request to set up gear for us as Graham had injured his back. Also thanks to John Casey and Ian Rutter for the calls on the night too.
Welcome to our newest members of the club and may you enjoy many years of fun and friendship with us!

Another Halloween rolls around and we go crazy decorating the hall and dressing up. This year we incorporated outr learners into the whole night and danced to the Hallowween songs and feasted on a VERY interesting looking supper. Thanks to all who came and the crew who helped set up and take it all down again.

2013 September 30th – Charity Night

(Click on pictures to enlarge then click again).
What a great crowd! We opened our doors to the public as a fund raising dance in support of the Cancer Care Centre. We ran a night of alternating teaching and Mainstream and threw in some mixer dances as well.
A great atmosphere and by all reports, everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The President of the Cance Care Centre was there dancing the night away and said few words to welcome everyone and share an amazement at what square dancing really is – a whole lotta fun.
All proceeds from the night will be tallied up and presented to the Centre shortly and we thank all of you who came along and supported the night.
